A Magnificent Pair of George I Pier Mirrors

Description

A fine pair of George I gilt and gesso Pier Glasses with arched divided and bevelled plates, surmounted by scroll crestings with eagles' heads centred by palmette feathers, the narrow ogee shaped surround with bell flowers and interlaced strapwork on a punched salmon spawn ground. An identical pair, possibly the same, sold in Christie's Important English Furniture Sale 20th November 1986, lot 27.
